Well, I thought I’d seen about every flavor possible on Lay’s potato chips. But as usual, I was wrong. Discovered Lay’s Pierogi Flavor chips online but have yet to see them on any store sheves here.
For those who don’t know of them. Potato pierogi are traditional Polish dumplings filled with a savory mixture of mashed potatoes, cheese and caramelized onions. The dough, made from flour, eggs, and sour cream, is rolled thin, filled, and boiled until they float, then usually pan-fried in butter until golden and crispy.
My hometown is Ashley, just outside Wilkes-Barre PA in Wyoming Valley. NEPA (Northeastern Pennsylvania) potato pierogi are a staple comfort food rooted in Polish heritage. These, often hand-pinched, dumplings are commonly boiled then pan-fried in butter until golden, frequently served at local church bazaars, firehouse fundraisers, and specialized shops.
I had lots of potato pierogi & potato pancakes at family holidays as well as church and firehouse bazaars. Shout-out to VFW Post 396 Wyoming, PA. If I were back in the area, I’d transfer to your VFW. The photos of your Polish Cuisine are absolute mouth-watering along with having beer and darts – perfect!
So where does a Polish boy find Polish foodstuffs in Thailand? Was easy in Bangkok, UNICO 23 Italian Dining has a most excellent Polish menu AND they deliver. My menu is a bit old but you get the idea. Still searching here in Pattaya. My brother Gary is visiting and found a German Restaurant that has super tasty potato pancakes.
