The Common Myna Bird by Johnny

Sawadi-kap & Greetings from Thailand. I’ve always enjoyed watching the local birdlife no matter where I was. About the most diverse collection of birdlife was in South Carolina with my house adjacent to a wood line. Now days I’m most happy to have a garden in easy photo distance of my door.

This article I feature the Common Myna Bird. The Mynas are a group of birds in the starling family. They are passerine birds native to large parts of Central Asia and South Asia. Passerine birds, known as perching birds, referring to their specialized foot structure (three toes forward, one backward) used for gripping branches.

Myna birds are highly intelligent and fiercely territorial. Some mynas are considered talking birds, for their ability to reproduce sounds, including human speech, when in captivity. I’m not interested in caging one but have seen a few over the years.

Mynas are also known to be gregarious, meaning fond of the company of others, sociable, and outgoing. This is easy enough to see as they are totally comfortable in groups.

What I’ve noticed is when they are in the garden area, working the lawn, it’s very businesslike. They are on the hunt, looking for food. However when dinner is finished and they are perched on rooftops and walls is when you see some of their more interesting poses.

Little if any chance to include what I publish here on to DartsThailand.com except now, maybe? Looking at the closeup shots from the law, one head-on Myna got me thinking – perfect darts flight. For any non-darters, the flight is the feathers section of the dart. So I’ve added it to the DT darts flight prototype section. What do you think?

Well that’s about it for this report. I’ve got more plans for bird articles. Found online, a bird sanctuary close to here. Camo covered platform with chairs and holes cut in the camo just waiting for photographers. Hopefully soon a report from there. Until then, be happy & stay well. – Johnny
