19th Army Band Reunion by Johnny

Greetings from sunny, warm Pattaya. This report “19th Army Band Reunion” is thanks to long time, good friend LaRae. While on a multi country Asian tour with her friend Elizabeth, they took time out of an already hectic, busy schedule to pop down here to Pattaya for a visit.

Funny, I lived in Bangkok for over twenty years and moved down to Pattaya about six months ago due to a medical condition. I’ve been making major improvements thanks to my physical therapist and the excellent staff here at YooDee Nursing Home. By your next visit LaRae, my improved physical mobility will easily allow me to travel to Bangkok.

LaRae and I have kept in touch over the years via the magic of the internet. Great stuff but nothing like meeting up in person. Talking about the good ole days and all the great folks we served with seems like only yesterday. But the busy schedule before and during the US Bicentennial Year was more than just a few years ago. LaRae and Elizabeth, many thanks for taking time to come down to Pattaya and visit.

So, am I am pushing the idea of setting up army band reunions? I’ve never been to any of the larger organized kind but getting together with old friends is great. No, I don’t run any catering business but can introduce you to those who do if you decide to have your army band reunion here in Thailand.

About the nicest yet cheapest Asian location according to my brother Gary, is Da Nang Vietnam. Some of you may remember Gary who served as a piano player in the 389th Army Band, Fort Monmouth, NJ. Much more important than the location is setting up the reunion itself. Don’t believe me? Ask anyone that’s ever been to an army band reunion.

Thanks again LaRae for stopping by but we best schedule or next one a bit sooner. If you’re headed my way, be sure and give me a shout. Below are some useful websites. Darts Thailand is my site of many years on my passion – darts. And Johnny’s Jazz Joint is my non-darts site. Its about my other hobbies travel, photography and drawing cartoons. Please have a look. – Johnny
